Default missing wheel lock key

I seem to be missing the wheel lock key for my '92 Biturbo. Any suggestions? Would Alpina be able to replace this based on my VIN?

Do you want me to mail my spare to you to see if it works? Ted

Thanks for the offer Ted. I'll actually be in Toronto next week, maybe I could stop by and pick it up - save the postage and see your collection of German metal!

I've been worried about this myself. I've been to a few places that have said they can't copy the key....

I'll have to make a trip to a proper locksmith to see if I can get mine copied I guess.

Have you tried contacting Alpina?

I haven't contacted Alpina yet. I'm hoping to borrow Ted's key next week and try it.

Maybe a close up photo would be a good start to see if it's even close?

If I remember, I'll post one sometime this weekend of mine just out of curiosity.

Ted, the key didn't work so it looks like they are unique.
It was great to meet you and see your collection. Your E28 M535i was truly spectacular.

those keys are unique indeed. there is a 5-digit code on the side of each lock
(you have to take one lock out to see it). with that code you can order a new
lock + key from ALPINA for about $50 plus shipping. if you just need the key i
can get you one made in germany for $26 including shipping to canada. there
is no other way if you don't have any keys at all. if you still have a spare you
might be able to get it copied by at a local locksmith for less than that.

I had a set of wheels from a B11 a couple years back. I didn't get a key. I ended up making one. There was one cut and it was in the center. I couldn't believe my local supplier even had a blank for it.

The wheels are gone now since they didn't fit my E34 without spacers.
