It will be interesting, given that Americans are unlikely to bid on it. Wonder how much of BaT readership is outside North America.

Not high. Alpinas are junk. I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole. I've probably over bid already!

Hi, I'm the lucky guy who won the auction on BAT. Flying to Calgary to pick up the car on August 7 then driving it back to Vancouver Island. Looking forward to an exhilarating cruise through the Rockies!! Will post an account of the trip if anyone is interested.

Congratulations on the auction win, you've got a gorgeous car there for a terrific price! It's great for us Canucks when the Americans can't bid.

Yes, we definitely want to hear about the trip and see lots of pictures.

Have you owned an E39 before? A comparison would be interesting.

Yes indeed. Daily drive a 2003 525i Touring. Love the car! Have put 45K kms on it and it's been the most dependable car I've ever owned.
