Got a replacement shift boot. It's not new, but the condition looks much better than the one that's in the car now:

Finally replaced the shift boot today. Since I was already in there, I applied leather cleaner/conditioner to the seats. It doesn't take that long to do, but for some reason I always hate doing it.
Old New Looks much better |

I hate it when I either can't or don't want to do work on the car myself. Dropped it off today to have a leak checked out. Apparently, it's leaking at the high and low pressure sensors under the brake master. Since it's already at the shop I figured I'd get them to flush out the power steering fluid and do a cooling system flush. Going to cost me $750....barf. No wonder I usually just get my hands dirty!!!!

I know what you mean. But sometimes it is just such a hassle... and slow... to do work at home without the special tools and the benefit of a hoist.

Slow is ok...unless I want/need to drive the car. I like the satisfaction of fixing things myself, but yeah, sometimes it's too much of a headache.
Picked up the car yesterday, leak fixed, cooling system flush, power steering flush and the brakes feel much better now too. Not that they weren't working previously, they just didn't have as good of feel as they do now with the leak fixed. I wish I had this done a few weeks ago and then I could have taken it on my drive on the long weekend. Next on the list...It's due for an oil change. I guess I should have ordered last week when the dollar was over 0.83...oh well. |

Yup!
Took her on a 800km run shortly after and she ran like a champ. Pretty shitty to have to drive through fresh crack seal though Now I need to clean the tar and sand off. Anyone have a tar removing product they recommend? |

Just a clean up with a quick spray on wax

I finally did some work on the car A month or so back I managed to pick up a center console with an arm rest. After having this in other E36's I've owned I've really noticed not having it in this car, so when I found one in good shape I made sure I grabbed it!
Lots of dog hair from the previous owner. Cleaned it as best I could for the moment (pic above was before I cleaned). One day I'll tear the interior all apart and give the car a thorough clean. Installed! The job was more involved than you would think. I had to cut away some carpet and buy new, longer bolts as well as remove a plug for a third bolt location that wasn't previously used. It's nice that cars are manufactured the same even if they don't have all the same parts |
