Good for your for enjoying the car even though it get's a little dirty I'm sure it's a great road trip car. Nice to drive it after all the work you've put into it too.

I had a chance to give the outside a decent detail yesterday. I wanted to do a light cut, but I ran out of time so I clay barred, used a swirl remover on the hood and just waxed the rest. Ignore the sun shield in the front LOL.

Looks really great. Can you tell me more about the swirl remover you used? That is something I need for the L7.

I used my Porter Cable 7424 with a light cutting pad and Meguair's #2 scratch and swirl remover. I think the results could be a bit better with a bit more aggressive cut, then the scratch and swirl remover and then a polish. It takes a lot of time and without a garage it's a lot of work for one day to wash, dry, clay bar, do multiple cuts and then wax.
You can do paint correction by hand, but it's a lot of work. If you have a couple of cars you are looking after I highly recommend the Porter Cable 7424. It makes waxing and paint correction soooooo much easier. |

One more small thing done today that has annoyed me from the start: Before: After: A keen eye will spot that it's not exactly the same, but it is genuine from Alpina. Massive thanks to testdriver for sourcing the part for me It wasn't quite the right size, so I spent some time with some sand paper to make it the right size. I didn't want to take some quick and easy route where someone would be able to tell it had been cut down to fit. |
