I have the same wood trim in my B3 and I'm also not crazy about it. But like you said, it's 4 new door panels to completely remove it, and actually I'm not sure if I could re-use my Alpina-cloth door cards with standard door panels?

Have you though about wrapping them? They have pretty good matte black vinyl wrap now, or if you want to get a little fancy you could do Piano black, faux aluminum or carbon fibre, etc.
