There are a couple interesting E36 sedans listed today. Neither seem to be in immaculate shape but there hasn't been much listed lately to talk about so I figured why not post them.

From the little bit of digging around I did, I think the "Limited Edition" part indicates this is a 30th Anniversary Edition model which were produced in very limited numbers. There doesn't seem to be anything particularly special about them however besides the tag on the trunk and the interior.

This Hartge has seen better days. Looks like the shifter knob is missing. It has quite the detailed auction sheet though -- anyone know what it's talking about?

One other question someone may have the answer to in regard to these auction sheets -- when they have the "XX" mark on the hood, fenders, etc. does this indicate an accident that's been repaired? If so, does that mean the front end of the Alpina above had it's front end knocked off? Is there any way to determine the cause of the repairs on these auction cars?

There are more pictures of the Hartge here:

The 'XX' means that panel has been replaced.

Its good to have a broker in Japan who can explain the sheets to you. I use Scott at Japan Car Direct (scott@japancardirect.com).

Damn you! I was going to post a thread for one or both of these cars as well. you beat me to it!

Both of these cars have been floating around auctions for at least a few weeks. I tried to do some digging, but I can't find very much information on Hartge's. From what I could find, it doesn't sound like they do anything to the interior :( From the auction pics it looks like they at least did floor mats and maybe the steering wheel.

I don't know why, but Hartge's that come up at auctions always seem to be beat up. I have never seen a good clean one go through.

Being an auto I don't the the Alpina will be expensive. Probably something like 350,000 JPY.

Wow...I was actually a bit over on my estimate. The Alpina sold for 303,000 JPY.

And the Hartge went for 185,000 JPY.

No, I don't think so. That was the maximum bid, but it didn't sell at that price. The last time it was at auction it got to 285,000 JPY and didn't sell.

With those kms, that was a steal even if it was Switchtronic.
