I've had this issue pretty much since I got the car. It always fires right up when it's cold, but it usually has to crank a bit before it starts when it's hot. Sometimes it'll seem like it's catching, so I let off, but then it doesn't start. It never starts and dies, it just doesn't start until it's cranked for a bit.

Reading about some E34 540i's there's something about heat soak or something due to where the starter is positioned. Would it be something similar on this car? Other suggestions?

ryan this is very common with the b8 . what your need to do is put a one way valve in your gas line . best spot would be next to the fuel filter . http://www.sigmfg.com/IndexText/KAV0277C.html . any questions feel free to pm me . install one before u fry your starter

Thanks for the tip Dwayne. :)

Do you have a link or any information you can post up about the technicalities of what is going on to cause this?

it just has to do with u losing fuel pressure and the one way valve doesnt allow for this .

Thanks again Dwayne.

One last question just to confirm...The one that you posted is that an example, or does that one fit the fuel line on our cars? I am assuming that it fits, but I just want to confirm before I order :)

i just used that one for an example . i believe our fuel line is 5/16th . so just order one with that line size . here is the one u need . http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-16-Check-Valve-Diesel-Gas-8mm-One-Way-Fuel-Flow-/251058218127?hash=item3a743c648f&item=251058218127&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

Thanks once again! Got one ordered, and it's good timing too because I've got some other stuff ordered from the US that I'm going to pick up in the next couple of weeks :)
